Trauma Therapy in New Mexico

Shiloh Hill Counseling provides trauma focused therapy in New Mexico tailored to your unique needs. Everyone's life experiences are unique and it's important to face trauma at your pace. Traumatic memories are hard to face and talk about and trust within the therapeutic relationship is important. Therapy can be life changing for individuals exposed to a traumatic event or prolonged trauma. I am here to help you face, process through traumatic memories and challenge intrusive thought patterns. You can live life again.

Trauma may include one traumatic event or prolonged exposure to a series of stressful events. You may have experienced a traumatic accident, medical issues, prolonged abuse and/or neglect, bullying, the sudden death of a loved one, a violent crime, exposure to the violence of war or a natural disaster. There is also the exposure to “secondary trauma;" the psychological impact of hearing or witnessing the experiences, stories or events of others.

Family, friends and community support may help but therapy can further help individuals heal, find deeper meaning and improve day to day quality of life and relationships. Traumatic events can cause a person to live with deep emotional pain, fear, confusion or post-traumatic stress long after the event has passed.

In these circumstances, the support, guidance and assistance of an experienced therapist can help individuals heal.
