Mindfulness-Based Therapy in New Mexico
Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, or MBCT, can help with various mental health disorders. It combines the ideas of cognitive therapy with mindfulness skills and meditative practices.
Recent research has shown that people who have been clinically depressed three or more times in their life find that learning mindfulness-based skills helps considerably reduce the chances of the depression returning.
What does MBCT help treat?
- Depression and anxiety
- Food and eating issues
- Low mood and negative thoughts
- Body sensations such as weariness and sluggishness
- Psychosis
If you can relate to any of the above issues, mindfulness-based therapy may be right for you. MBCT helps people separate themselves from their thoughts and emotions and teaches them how to recognize a sense of being “in the present.” Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy teaches the necessary tools to combat symptoms as they arise.
The goal is to live in the present. If you or someone you know in New Mexico may benefit from mindfulness-based therapy, please contact me for more information. I would be happy to speak with you about how therapy can help.
