Adria received her bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco and completed her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work at the University of Denver. She completed her practicum at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) Psychiatry Clinic. Throughout the course of her time at UCH, she did comprehensive diagnostic assessments, presented cases to a team of mental health professionals, built a solid caseload of individual therapy cases and successfully engaged clients in the therapeutic process. Adria also facilitated a weekly psychotherapy group, attended group supervision, grand rounds and weekly classes with residents to further enhance learning and growth.
Adria is a licensed LCSW in Michigan, Colorado, South Dakota and New Mexico and has 12 years of clinical experience serving diverse populations in various treatment settings. She specializes in therapy with adults and utilizes a broad range of therapeutic modalities such as but not limited to CBT, strengths-based approach, DBT, grief work, ACT and mindfulness techniques. Adria attended an intensive CBT training at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy where the founder of Cognitive Therapy, Aaron Beck, led a forum. She also applies a mindfulness therapeutic approach for the purpose of encouraging clients to understand the connection between the mind and body.
Before working in the private practice setting, Adria was a clinical therapist for The Eight Northern Indian Councils to serve the Native American population. This work nurtured an appreciation for different cultures and customs; ultimately allowing her to tailor her communication approach to each unique situation. While working on the pueblos, she provided mental health therapeutic services to families, children and adults. Additionally, Adria directed a group at New Moon Lodge–an inpatient substance abuse treatment facility for Native American males.
Adria has also worked as a therapist in a group private practice, Lutheran Social Services and at the Catholic Charities Kinship Program where she facilitated and lead adult, teen and child support groups encompassing a diverse cultural and socio-economic population. Her duties included providing assessments and case management services to individuals and families.
In her twenties, Adria was published as a food and travel writer for various local publications in San Francisco. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, writing, reading and escaping to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She looks forward to continuing to serve, develop and nurture clients within the therapeutic relationship.
